The NN1400 and NN1500 navigation buoys have a rotationally moulded tower that in the event of damage can be replaced on station. The tower can house an internally mounted radar reflector, and accepts most makes of navigation lights. The tower is semi-sealed and self draining – this design feature has excellent self-righting characteristics and gives an exceptional low centre of gravity.
The NN1400 and NN1500 navigation buoys are constructed from rotationally moulded medium density polyethylene, pressure foam filled to a density of 36 kg/m3 and finished in IALA compliant colours. The material is UV resistant and designed to give a colour fast life of up to 10 years. The buoys are fitted with a twin keel providing excellent stability on the ship’s deck and in the water. The keel and mooring point and are finished in hot dipped galvanised steel.
The NN1400 and NN1500 hulls are through bolted using four M30 bolts connecting keel, hull and tower. The tower on both buoys is also constructed from MDPE ensuring low maintenance and superior resistance to the marine environment. Lanterns, solar panels, radar reflectors and battery systems are fitted to suit specified specifications.
